A Word From Our President
My branch of the H4FA moved to Texas in the 1840's while Texas was an independent Republic. They moved from Tennessee . Like many in our extended family we pronounce our name in the old way ,but spell it differently, thank you English clerks in the 17 and 1800's in America.
This is not uncommon in families with German derived surnames.
I was elected a President of the Association at the 2015 Family Reunion in North Carolina. I am a retired Medical physician whose Specialty is Diagnostic Radiology. I have served on many Boards of Directors over the past 40 years in many capacities in the Medical Field, in Business , in State and local government and in the greater Scientific Community .
My wife of 51 years , Bobbie, and me live in Colleyville, Texas , which is a suburb of Dallas/Ft Worth. While retired , I continue to teach Medical Students and young Doctors in training and serve or consult on several national Boards in Medicine or Science. I also serve as Chairman Emeritus on our family Foundation in Texas.
We have attended all of the national family reunions except the first and have always enjoyed them a lot. Our extended Family has had an interesting journey in America since 1727 and has made significant contributions to our country along the way.
Given that we are one of the few nations whose ancestors were mostly immigrants, it seems to me that it is important we today know
and understand our Roots !
I strongly encourage all of you who are part of our large extended Family to join us in our journey of exploration of our past.
Respectfully yours,
Wally Hooser
